Pullen
Just seconds from your door is our state's first public park and the 14th oldest amusement park in the world, Pullen Park. Founded in 1887, this former cow field was donated for the enjoyment of citizens of all ages. You can relax atop a pedal boat on the centerpiece jewel of a lake, or stroll through lush plantings, large magnolias, cedars and willow oaks – many of which Mr. Pullen planted. Revisit your childhood and ride one of the wooden creatures in the artfully restored Victorian carousel that once graced a park named Bloomsbury. Or catch the train that circles the Park's playgrounds, The C. P. Huntington Train, a miniature replica of the original locomotive (circa 1863) that helped build the first railroad spanning our country. You could also enjoy the pool, or bring your friends for a day of picnicking and relaxing – just what a park is for.
